OVER-50S URGED TO ‘DOB IN THEIR ENERGY RETAILER’ IN A BID TO FIGHT BACK AGAINST ENERGY PRICE RISES
The FiftyUp Club is calling on over-50 Aussies to take a stand against upcoming energy price rises by submitting their information to the FiftyUp Club Power Price Wall of Truth.
While some providers proactively announce their July 1 price rises, others unscrupulously refuse to do so and simply put the added cost details in small print on the next quarterly bill.
The FiftyUp Club wants to bring transparency to the process this July by publishing a guide to July Power Price rises by retailer, called the Power Price Wall of Truth.
AGL recently published their rate change. The FiftyUp Club promptly calculated that the rises vary across the country with a typical QLD electricity and gas household hit by a $192 increase, NSW residents $379 whilst South Australians were in for a $499 rise.
To see where your provider sits or to contribute to the Wall of Truth, Australians over-50 are this week being asked to;
- Join FiftyUpClub.com.au if they haven’t already
- Check out the Wall of Truth and submit their own rate rises if possible, and
- Use the discounted FiftyUp Club energy offers to fight back.
The FiftyUp Club’s spokesperson Kayley Harris commented on the recent prices rise, saying;
“Getting price rises is one thing, but to try to sneak them under the nose of their customers is another. Consumers need to stay more informed, particularly FiftyUps.
“We’re more loyal and always pay on time. To get slugged with an extra $499 for people often on fixed incomes, is just not affordable.
“We want as many people as possible to come and dob in their retailer’s price rises and check out where their provider sits. To be informed is to be empowered.
“Don’t just cop a price rise. Use the FiftyUp Club’s brand new energy offers to switch, shop around or as leverage with your own provider. Whatever you do, do something!”
The FiftyUp Club has over 270,000 members nationally and uses their combined buying power to unlock special offers and lobby on their behalf. It’s free to join at www.FiftyUpClub.Com.au.
