The Biggest Discounts from the Big Energy Retailers: Are you getting their best offer?

You don’t need to be Einstein to know that energy is a very hot topic at the moment. Everywhere you turn there are offers and incentives for switching providers and all sides of parliament are talking about it.

Older Australians are hit harder by price rises because the majority are on fixed incomes.

But energy discounts are rising for those who shop around - especially in WA where gas discounts have gone from 15% to 35% in a year, and in SE QLD where discounts have gone from 15% to 28% in about a year.

Click here to see the special offers for members at FiftyUpClub.com.au, which are even better than what these retailers offer on market.

We’ve done a market round-up to show you what your retailer might be offering to new customers: are you getting their best offer?

According to their websites, the big retailers are offering market discounts ranging:

  • From 22% - 27% off electricity in NSW
  • From 25% - 43% off electricity in Victoria
  • From 16% - 28% off electricity in SE QLD
  • From 14% - 25% off electricity in SA, and
  • From 25% - 35% off gas in WA (where electricity switching remains impossible)

Here’s the thing: most power companies offer better offers to NEW customers than to loyal existing customers. But if you call them out on it, they will often upgrade you.

And you’ll have even more power to negotiate if you have an exclusive “off-market” discount in your hands, like the ones available at fiftyupclub.com.au.

We’ve done the work for you by analysing the offers available and recommending the ones that we feel benefit the most people. The offers won’t suit everyone as some of you may already be on a very good offer - but do decide for yourself.

Don’t worry if you’re on a fixed term contract, you can still leave your contract before the end date. Check about any exit or cancellation fees from your current provider. If the discount you’re offered is big enough, you could still be better off switching.

Remember it only takes a few minutes to switch online or by phone. From, there your new provider will organise the switch with your current provider with no interruption in your power supply.

The key issue here is Power. Retailers provide it but we have it in our hands thanks to our 300,000 members. We can make a difference.

Hi everyone, it's Kayley, all the links should take you to the offer page where you enter your suburb, not back to this story. It's working for me, can you send me a screen shot of where you're being redirected to? I'll try to rectify. K
